Business news network CNBC unveiled on Tuesday its fourth annual Disruptor 50, a ranked list of the world’s most ambitious and innovative private companies changing the economy and overall business landscape.

This year saw the most nominations ever, with 750 companies vying for a spot on the CNBC Disruptor 50 list, more than double the number of nominees from 2015.

According to CNBC, these top-notch startups with their forward-thinking founders have identified unexploited niches in the marketplace that have the potential to become billion-dollar businesses, and they played a key role in being that leader.

Many on the list have already passed the billion-dollar mark at a speed that is unprecedented.

Here are the top five:

  1. Uber
  2. Airbnb
  3. Ezetap
  4. Palantir Technologies
  5. 23andMe
