Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter, is making it official with the social media giant as its new chief executive officer (CEO).
In a regulatory filing on Monday, Twitter said Dorsey will retake the reins as permanent CEO. But he will continue to serve as the CEO of Square, a payments company he co-founded in 2009 that may go public soon.
In addition to his new flashy title at Twitter, Dorsey will also continue to serve as a member on its board but will no longer act as chairman.
Dorsey, who is only 38, has been serving as interim CEO since July, when former CEO Dick Costolo resigned. This is Dorsey’s second stint as CEO, having held the top job for over a year back in 2007 and 2008.
In the same filing, Twitter has also appointed Adam Bain as its new chief operating officer (COO). Bain, 42, was formerly the company’s head of revenue and was considered a top candidate for the CEO gig.
